Completion Rules for Learn Content Components

Set how learners move through Learn content in order. Use this setting when you want users to finish required items before opening the next one.

Where do I set completion rules?

Open the Learn content you want to edit, then go to the Training Validation & Evaluation tab. In the Learning Path section, use the completion option to control whether learners must finish items in sequence.

This setting is part of the content itself, so it applies to that Learn content and its connected items.

What does Require Sequential Completion do?

When Require Sequential Completion is enabled, learners can only open the next item after they complete the previous required items.

When it is turned off, learners can move through the content without finishing items in a fixed order.

  • Require Sequential Completion: Turns ordered completion on or off for the content. Use it when the learning flow depends on finishing one item before moving to the next.

How do I change it?

  1. Open the Learn content details page.

  2. Select Training Validation & Evaluation.

  3. Find the Require Sequential Completion option.

  4. Turn it on or off as needed.

  5. Save your changes.

When should I use it?

Use sequential completion for content that must be followed in a fixed order, such as a course that builds step by step. Leave it off when learners can complete items in any order.

This setting is also available when you build a Curriculum. In that module, the same idea is called sequential completion for curriculum items.
