Why use this module?

The GFoundry Learn module is more than a traditional Learning Management System (LMS). It is a complete learning ecosystem designed to create engaging, effective and continuous training experiences that drive real knowledge retention and employee development.

It was built from the ground up to solve the most common challenges in corporate training: low user engagement and rapid knowledge loss. It helps you motivate employees to actively engage in essential yet typically uninspiring courses like safety, quality certifications and compliance.

The challenge: the Forgetting Curve

A key principle behind the module is the "Forgetting Curve", a concept that shows how information is lost over time when there is no attempt to retain it. Traditional, one-off training sessions are often ineffective against this curve, as learners can forget a significant amount of information shortly after the session ends. The goal is to flatten that curve.

Micro-learning at its core

The Learn module combats the Forgetting Curve with micro-learning. Instead of long, disruptive sessions, knowledge is delivered in small, focused "pills", like a short video, a quick article or a few quiz questions. This allows employees to learn in the flow of their work.

By using GFoundry's gamification tools, you can create captivating narratives and rewarding experiences, making learning not just mandatory but also enjoyable.

What makes this module different?

With GFoundry, you can build effective Learning Journeys for your team. In today's workplace, the key is not just having a comprehensive training plan, but making it engaging for your employees. The way content is organised and communicated plays a crucial role in capturing employee interest, which is essential for better knowledge retention.

How can I organise my content in the Learn module?

You organise your content using categories and sub-categories, in Learn > Categories. See Managing Categories and Highlights.

You can also create as many Missions (learning journeys) as you need, each with its own milestones, and combine learning with actions in other GFoundry modules.

When Training Management is enabled for your organisation, Training Programs and Curricula add target audiences, deadlines, enrolment rules and evaluation stages to your content.

What types of content does GFoundry support?

Each Learn Content item is built from one or more content blocks. In the editor, Content blocks lists all nine; the ones you haven't added yet show as Not set up, with a Create (or Enable) button.

  • Text & Media Block: free-form text and multimedia, with rich formatting, images, video, HTML and embedded external content.

  • Presentation Content: a slide-based format for structured content, ideal for lectures and reports.

  • PDF Content: a downloadable document for study guides, procedures, manuals and reference material, with an optional read confirmation.

  • Video Content: upload a video file or add a YouTube link.

  • Quiz Content: questions to test and reinforce learning, with immediate feedback. The quiz engine has four game modes (Classic, Genius, Ladder, Battle; in Battle, users play against each other) plus Test Mode, which turns the quiz into an assessment and disables the game modes.

  • Tasks: task lists for learners to complete, each task with a title and a description.

  • Form: a form learners fill in to submit structured responses, with configurable fields and close reasons.

  • Discussion Board: a space where learners post questions, share insights and discuss the content with each other.

  • Role Play: learners practise a real conversation with an AI persona; the context of the Learn Content pre-fills the role play form.

What about gamification? Can I gamify all my learning strategy?

With the GFoundry Gamification Engine, you can enhance your company's learning experiences by adding game-like elements and rewards, such as points, badges and rankings. This makes training more engaging for employees, encourages friendly competition and motivates users to complete their training and revisit key concepts, positively affecting both their performance and the overall success of your organisation.

Can I map my entire organization in terms of competencies and skills?

You should! Applied at the organisational level, this gives you a comprehensive view of the skills your organisation already has, and helps you identify gaps in key competences that may affect the business.

Do you have curated content? What is that and how can I use it in my Company?

Yes. GFoundry provides a curated content category that your organisation can use free of charge. It complements your existing training materials, whether internal or external, and GFoundry updates and adds curated content regularly.

Curated content items are unpublished by default. To move one into your own categories and publish it, see Curated Content Categories.

How do I create new content in the Learn module?

To create your first Learn Content, Training Program or Curriculum step by step, see Quick Start: Your First Learn Content, Training Program and Curriculum. For every field and action of a Learn Content item, see How to create and manage Learn Content.

How do I incorporate external content?

If external content is enabled for your organisation, turn on External Content when creating or editing the Learn Content, then fill in the External URL: the address users are redirected to when they open the content. Quiz Content cannot be added to external content; other blocks remain available.
