Curated Content applied to Learning and Development

How can GFoundry's Curated Content help your company to create Learning Journeys

Curated Content applied to Learning and Development

Why curated content matters in corporate learning, and how GFoundry curated content can be combined with your own Learn Content.

What is curated content?

Content curation is the selection of useful and interesting content that already exists in various sources, with the goal of sharing it with a specific audience.

Since most existing information is on the Internet, digital content curation has become a common activity for many organisations, companies, groups and individuals. It can be a complex task: you have to search through large amounts of information from many sources to find what is useful and relevant.

To make this research and selection efficient, start by listening to your audience and understanding which content will be of wide interest.

Why use curated content in learning and development strategies?

Organisations need to create their own content about the company, its roles and its areas of expertise. This knowledge is internal and specific to each organisation.

However, developing people is not only about internal knowledge. It also depends on broader knowledge, such as soft skills, culture and market knowledge, which enriches teams.

This shared need is where curated content comes in. Selecting high-interest content lets any team manager address training needs with content that is already developed and available immediately.

By combining internal and curated content, you can build training plans that support continuous and diverse learning for every employee. On GFoundry, gamification can be added to reward employees who follow their training and to encourage healthy competition.

What is GFoundry's curated content?

Learn training module gfoundry

GFoundry provides curated content that clients can use free of charge. It covers several knowledge areas, in formats such as quizzes and videos. If your organisation has curated content, it appears on the Learn > Categories page in a separate list called GFoundry Curated Contents.

Curated content can be moved to any category of your own training structure, so it is simple to combine internal content with GFoundry curated content in the same categories.

Curated content can also be adapted to your organisation, for example by adding links or videos, or by editing quiz questions.

See Curated Content Categories for the steps.

Fast, simple, effective and free

One of the big challenges of a new corporate learning programme is creating internal content, because of the cost and time involved.

With GFoundry curated content, you can start learning initiatives straight away and combine them with GFoundry's gamification.

Easy access also matters. Learn Content is available in the web app and in the Android and iOS mobile apps.

To bring digital content into physical spaces, each published Learn Content has a QR code, available from Preview & Share in the backoffice. For example, you can place QR codes at specific locations in your facilities so employees can open a specific training content there.

Each employee can shape their own learning

Team managers can define training plans for the people they manage, to address the difficulties they face in their role.

Employees also have their own motivations and ambitions, related to the knowledge and skills they want to acquire. By promoting a culture of self-development, employees can choose the content that helps their personal and professional development.

In the GFoundry app, the Learn module gives employees access to all the content made available to them, and the freedom to choose what is most useful for their role and needs.

Content recommendation and segmentation

Not every content item is relevant to the whole organisation, since each employee has different functions, objectives and skills.

That is why it is important to segment content. In GFoundry, each Learn Content item can be segmented by teams or groups, so employees only see the content meant for them.

You can highlight the most relevant content

Providing relevant content is not enough; employees also need to know it exists.

With Content Highlights, you can feature the content you want to promote and change it whenever you need. See Managing Categories and Highlights.
