How quizzes and tests work
A quiz inside a Learn Content can have several game modes and a Test mode with a pass mark. Here is how each one works, what happens if you fail or quit, and why points, coins and badges depend on how your company set up the quiz.
Where do I find the quiz?
Inside a Learn Content, in the block Let's test your knowledge. There is one row per game mode, with Start quiz (or Start test for the Test mode) and a Rules icon. A finished mode shows as completed in its row.
If the Learn Content opens step by step, the quiz is a step called Quiz, with the Available game modes. Some modes are played inside the step; others open their own page.
What are the game modes?
Classic: played in levels. To pass a level, you need a minimum number of correct answers. To finish the mode, you pass every level.
Genius: also played in levels, usually with less time per question. A wrong answer ends the attempt.
Ladder: each question is a rung of a ladder. The game ends at your first wrong answer, and your level is the highest rung you have reached.
Battle: if your company uses battles, you play the same quiz against a colleague. Whoever challenges plays first, and the other person is then asked to play. More correct answers wins; in a tie, the faster player wins.
Test: an assessment with a pass mark. A quiz in Test mode has no game modes.
Which modes you see, and how many levels, questions and seconds each one has, depend on how your company set up the quiz. Click Rules on a row to read that mode's rules before you start. A mode can also appear with its button inactive: for example, you may need to finish Classic before you can play Genius and Ladder.
How do levels work?
At the end of each level you see whether it is completed. If not, the message says the percentage of correct answers you need to advance. Then choose Next level, Try again!, See results or Review answers.
How does the Test mode work?
You have one attempt, unless the row says The test can be repeated if you do not pass.
The result is Approved or Not approved, with your percentage and the percentage needed to pass.
Your company can also ask you to complete the rest of the Learn Content before the test, or to go through it again after a failed attempt before you retry.
Can I play again?
If you do not pass a level, use Try again! to repeat it.
Once you finish Classic mode, you cannot play it again unless your company resets your progress.
In Ladder mode, each new game starts again from the first question, so you can play again to beat your best.
A test can only be repeated when it says so, and only if you did not pass.
What if I leave in the middle?
Click Quit game to leave. You are asked to confirm, and the progress of the current game is lost. Moving to another tab of the Learn module also ends the current game, after a warning.
What are helps?
If your company turns them on, you can use helps during a game, such as more time or removing wrong answers. Your company decides how many helps you have and whether they cost coins. If a help costs more coins than you have, you see a message saying so.
A question looks wrong. What do I do?
Use Report issue on the question, choose Question issue, Answer issue, Image issue or Other issue, and confirm. You see Issue reported. Thank you.
Do quizzes give me points, coins or badges?
It depends on how your company set up the quiz and the platform. Points, coins and badges are all configurable: a quiz can give points or not, and your company decides whether to create badges for it and whether those badges give coins.
Points: when your company gives points for a game mode, you earn them by passing a level, winning a battle or climbing past your best rung in Ladder. A failed attempt gives no points. Depending on the settings, losing a battle can take points away. The Test mode does not give game points.
Badges: your company can create badges for actions in Learn, such as finishing a Learn Content. If you win one, you see it on the results screen.
Coins: you get coins with a badge when your company gives that badge coins.
Points count toward the Learn ranking and the ranking of the quiz, if your company shows rankings. Read Rules on each mode to see what applies to that quiz. See Badges, achievements and rankings and Points and coins: what is the difference?.
The quiz asks for coins. Why?
It is Premium content. Click Unlock content and confirm: the coins are spent once and the quiz stays unlocked. If you see This quiz is not available to play!, the quiz cannot be played on your platform. Contact your platform administrator.
In the mobile app
Tap Menu at the bottom of the screen and then Learn (swipe left if you do not see it). Inside it, the sections (Catalogue, Training, Me, Achievements) are in the bar at the bottom. The pages and the steps are the same as on the web.
If you do not see this
The Learn Content has no quiz, or the quiz has no game mode turned on yet.
You do not see Battle: your company does not use battles.
You finished a mode and got no points, coins or badges: your company has not set them for this quiz.
Your company may use a different name for this area or place it elsewhere in the menu. The Learn module is where you find learning content, quizzes and training.
