What does a user need to submit a Touchpoint?

A Touchpoint checks the user's goals against the rules of its period. If submission is blocked, compare the goals with those rules before treating it as an error.

Start here

  1. Confirm the user, the Touchpoint and its period.

  2. Check that the Touchpoint is open for the user and the manager.

  3. List the user's goals for that period, with their type, dates and status.

  4. Compare them with the rules below.

  5. Check that every required comment is filled in.

Which goal rules can apply?

  • Minimum and maximum per type: the period can require a number of individual goals, team goals, project goals, or a total. Every goal counts except archived ones.

  • Goals running at the same time: the period can require a minimum number of goals active at the same time within its date window. Only goals In Progress, Completed or Failed count for this rule.

  • Goal date window: goals must fall within the dates set for the period.

  • Expired goals: goals whose end date has passed only count if the period allows expired goals.

These rules are set per Touchpoint period, so tell the user the rule of their current period, not a fixed number.

Why is it blocked even though goals exist?

  • The goals belong to another period, or their dates are outside the period's window.

  • The minimum for one type is not met, for example the rule asks for individual goals and the user only has team goals.

  • The goals are archived, or they expired and the period does not allow expired goals.

  • A comment is required for the score chosen. See When is a written justification required in an evaluation?

What not to do

Do not create goals only to get around the block. Fix the dates, types or statuses of the existing goals first.

When should I contact Support?

Contact Support when the Touchpoint is open, the goals meet the period's rules, and submission is still blocked. Include the user identifier, the Touchpoint period, each goal's type, dates and status, and the message shown.
