Where to see your goals
Your goals are in My Career and inside your evaluation and Touchpoints; there is no separate Goals area in the menu. This article shows where each type of goal appears and how to add goals for the next period.
Before you start
Your company uses goals in its evaluations. In GFoundry they are called Smart Goals.
OKRs are different: if your company uses them, they have their own area in the menu, OKR's.
Steps to see your current goals
Go to My Career > My Career.
In My Smart Goals, choose Individual, Team or Collective. A tab only appears when you have goals of that type.
Click a goal to open Goal details: the due date, the days left, comments and the history of updates.
If you can update your progress, use Goal progress: move the slider and click Update progress. When you reach the maximum, you are asked for the date you completed the goal (Set this goal as completed on <date>?). You cannot choose a future date.
In some companies only your manager updates goal progress. In that case you see the progress but cannot change it.
Goals inside your evaluation
In your self-evaluation you evaluate the goals of the cycle: Smart Goals, Team goals, Collective goals and OKR goals, depending on what your company uses.
Collective goals and OKR goals are usually for information only: their value is already calculated and you cannot change it.
Under Prepare cycle <year>, the Smart Goals item is where you create the goals for the next cycle.
If you see Timeline, the same items are in the To do list of the phase, in the Me tab.
Goals inside a Touchpoint
Touchpoint goals: evaluate how your goals for the period are going.
Smart Goals: create, edit or delete your goals for the next period.
OKR goals and Collective goals: for information only.
Steps to add a goal for the next period
In your evaluation or Touchpoint, open the Smart Goals item.
The page shows Total Smart Goals and the minimum and maximum number of goals you need.
Click New individual Smart Goal. If you see Goal catalogue, you can click Browse to start from a ready-made goal.
Fill in Title, Description, Start date, Due date and Smart Goal weight. Some goals also ask for a Minimum value and Target value, or for Classification criteria. A goal usually has to last at least 3 months.
Click Create!.
The goal appears under Pending until your manager approves it. While it is pending, you can still open it to edit or delete it.
The list has the tabs Pending, Approved and Canceled. You may also see Under Evaluation: goals of the period being evaluated, which you can only view there.
If you manage a team
You can create team goals with New team Smart Goal, and goals you create are approved straight away. You approve the goals your team creates with Approve Smart Goal. To see a person's goals, open them from My team in My Career; Edit Smart Goals opens their goals list.
In the mobile app
Tap Menu at the bottom of the screen and then My Career (swipe left if you do not see it). Inside it, the sections (Timeline, My Career, My Notepad) are in the bar at the bottom. The pages and the steps are the same as on the web.
If you do not see this
There is no separate Goals item in the menu. Look in My Career.
My Smart Goals is missing: you have no goals yet, or your company does not use goals in its evaluations.
New individual Smart Goal is greyed out or missing: you reached the maximum, or your evaluation or Touchpoint is already submitted or closed.
Update progress is missing: your company lets only your manager update progress, or the goal is not approved yet.
Your company may use a different name for this area or place it elsewhere in the menu.
Common questions
Why can't I find my goals?
There is no Goals item in the menu. Look in My Career > My Career, under My Smart Goals. If that block is missing, you have no goals yet. Goals you create for the next period are in the Smart Goals item of your evaluation or Touchpoint (in Timeline, in the To do list of the phase).
Why is my goal still Pending?
Goals you create wait for your manager's approval. Until then they stay in the Pending tab and do not count as approved. Remind your manager. While a goal is pending, you can still edit or delete it.
Why can't I edit or delete a goal?
You can only edit or delete a goal while it is pending and your evaluation or Touchpoint is still open for you. Once your manager approves it, ask your manager if it needs to change. Goals in Under Evaluation are view only.
Why is my date rejected?
A goal usually has to last at least 3 months. The message shows the earliest or latest date you can choose.
Your evaluation cycle or Touchpoint period only accepts dates inside its own window. The message shows the limit.
The due date must be after the start date.
These limits are set for each cycle and period, so a date that worked last year may not work now.
Can the target be lower than the minimum value? Can I use percentages?
Yes, the target can be lower than the minimum, for example when less is better (incidents, response time). Say which direction is better in the description, so you and your manager read the goal the same way. Whether you can type a percent sign or decimals depends on your company. If a value is rejected, follow the message, or type a plain number.
Why can't I create a new goal?
New individual Smart Goal is greyed out when you already have the maximum number of goals. It disappears once your evaluation or Touchpoint is submitted or closed. If you need another goal after that, talk to your manager.
Why can't I update my progress?
Only approved goals have Update progress. In some companies only your manager updates progress, and in a Touchpoint you cannot update it once your part is submitted. Ask your manager to update it.
Why is a goal missing from my evaluation or Touchpoint?
Touchpoint: goals are refreshed each time you open it, while it is not finished. Close it and open it again.
Evaluation: goals are added only while your self-evaluation is open. A goal created after you submitted does not appear.
A team goal only appears if you are in that team. Canceled goals do not appear.
The goal may belong to another cycle or period.
Do not create the goal again. Ask your manager first. If it must be included and your manager cannot add it, ask your administrator and tell them the goal, its type and dates, and the cycle or period.
Why are goals my company loaded for me missing or wrong?
Some companies load goals for everyone from a file. If yours are missing, or have the wrong values or dates, ask your administrator. Tell them which goal, the cycle or period, and what you expected to see.
