Follow this troubleshooting flow
Confirm the user, cycle, assessment step, and person completing the form.
Identify the exact field that is required, read-only, or unavailable.
Check the questionnaire and cycle configuration for that field.
Confirm whether the selected answer or score triggers a justification requirement.
Check whether a minimum number of characters is configured.
Verify whether the user, manager, or another evaluator owns the comment.
After the correct person completes the required field, save and retry the submission.
Why can a comment be required only for some answers?
A questionnaire can require a written justification for specific responses or scores. For example, a cycle may request text for the highest or lowest rating and may define a minimum character count. The active settings for that organisation and cycle are the source of truth.
Why can the field be visible but not editable?
The comment belongs to another role or evaluation step.
The assessment has already been submitted or closed.
The field is informational in the current view.
The questionnaire configuration does not allow editing in that stage.
What should I tell the user or manager?
Explain the exact rule configured for their form: which response requires a comment, which field to complete, who must complete it, and any minimum text requirement. Do not present a client-specific score or comment rule as universal.
When should I contact Support?
Contact Support when the displayed requirement or editability does not match the confirmed questionnaire configuration. Include the cycle, assessment type, field name, selected answer or score, responsible role, configured rule, current status, and validation message.
