Training Program Due Date Rules Explained
Learn how to set a training program due date by fixed date or by number of days after the start date. This article also explains how recurrence affects reassignments.
Where do I set the due date for a training program?
Open the training program and go to the scheduling section. There you can set the start date and choose a due date rule.
The due date rule defines when learners must complete the training. You can use either a fixed date or a number of days after the start date.
What are the available due date rules?
Fixed date: Choose a specific due date for the training program. Use this when the deadline should be the same for everyone.
Number of days: Set the deadline as a number of days after the training start date. Use this when the due date should move with the start date.
What should I enter when I use a fixed date?
Select the fixed date option and set the due date. The date must be later than the start date.
If the due date is not valid, you need to adjust either the start date or the due date before saving.
What should I enter when I use number of days?
Select the number of days option and enter the deadline in days. The value must be at least 1.
This option is useful when the program starts on different dates for different groups or users, but you want the same completion window after activation.
How does recurrence affect the due date?
If recurrence is enabled, the training can be reassigned on the chosen frequency. In that case, the same due date rule is applied again for each reassignment.
Use recurrence only when you want learners to repeat the training on a regular basis, such as monthly, quarterly, biannual, or annual cycles.
What happens if I change the start date later?
If you use a fixed date, the due date still has to stay after the start date. If you use number of days, the deadline moves with the new start date.
Review both fields before publishing so the training opens and closes when you expect it to.
