How recognition endorsements feed the skills engine
Colleagues can endorse each other on soft and hard skills. For those endorsements to count in Skills Mapping, each soft skill or hard skill must be linked to a skill from the Skills Catalogue with the Skill Tag field.
How does recognition produce skill signals?
The Recognition module has its own lists of Soft Skills and Hard Skills, which users see in the app. When a colleague endorses a user on a soft or hard skill linked to a Skill Tag, Skills Mapping records a signal for that user on the linked skill. When an endorsement is removed, the signal is updated too.
Without a Skill Tag, the endorsement still exists in Recognition but does not appear in Skills Mapping.
Where is the Skill Tag field?
At the bottom of the soft skill and hard skill forms there is a Skill Tag field, where you choose one skill from the Skills Catalogue. The field only appears when the Tags feature is active for your organisation, and then it is required. If you do not see it, ask the GFoundry team.
How do I link a Soft Skill to the Skills Catalogue?
Go to Modules > Recognition > Soft Skills.
Open the soft skill, or use Add Soft Skill to create one.
Fill in the Soft Skill Name in each language tab, the Soft Skill Image and the Background Color.
In Skill Tag, search for and select the matching skill.
Click Create or Update.
Hard skills work the same way under Modules > Recognition > Hard Skills. New hard skills are created in the Create a new Hard Skill window, which also has the Skill Tag field.
What happens after the Skill Tag is linked?
Every soft skill or hard skill endorsement on that entry becomes a signal for the endorsed user on the linked skill.
In Skills Mapping > Dashboard, these signals appear under the Recognition category, next to the Learn and Evaluation signals for the same skill.
Where does the Skill Tag come from?
Skill Tags come from Skills Mapping > Skills Catalogue, the registry of skills used by Learn content, evaluation skills and Recognition. If a skill is missing, add it there first and then link the Recognition entries. Avoid duplicates: two skills with similar names are treated as two different skills.
How do I enable endorsements?
Go to Modules > Recognition > Recognition Settings.
In Soft Skill Endorsements, turn Soft Skills on or off.
In Hard Skill Endorsements, turn Hard Skills on or off.
To cap how many endorsements each user can give, turn on Max Soft Skill Endorsements per User or Max Hard Skill Endorsements per User and set Max Endorsements user.
Save the settings.
When endorsements are disabled, users cannot see or give them in the app, so no new signals are produced through Recognition.
How do I review who endorsed whom?
Go to Modules > Recognition > Dashboard and review the Soft Skill Endorsements and Hard Skill Endorsements sections. The endorsement lists show the Receiver and the Recognizer, and can be exported with Export Report (xls).
Do Star Badge Reviews feed Skills Mapping?
No. Star Badge Reviews are a separate recognition feature and star badges have no Skill Tag field. To feed Skills Mapping through Recognition, use endorsements on soft or hard skills that have a Skill Tag.
