How Learn content feeds the skills engine
Admins tag PDF blocks, video blocks and quiz questions with skills inside Learn Content. When learners use that content, Skills Mapping records a signal for the tagged skills.
What can be tagged with skills inside Learn?
PDF Content: the Skill Tags field on the PDF block.
Video Content: the Skill Tags field on the video block.
Quiz Questions: each question can have its own Skill Tags. The bulk edit of questions also lets you apply a skill tag to several questions at once.
Skill tags require the Tags feature to be active for your organisation. If Skill Tags does not appear on a content block, ask the GFoundry team.
Role-play blocks have their own skills, assigned by AI. They are covered in How role-play sessions feed the skills engine and do not feed Skills Mapping.
How do I tag a PDF or video block?
Go to Modules > Learn > Learn Content and open the content item.
Open the PDF or video block and edit it.
In Skill Tags, select the skills.
Save.
If no tags are selected, the block still works for learners but produces no skill signal.
How do I tag quiz questions?
Open the quiz and edit a question.
In Skill Tags, use Select Skill Tags to choose the skills.
Save the question.
To tag several questions at once, use the bulk edit of questions. There you must choose the skill tag to apply.
How do I check which skills are attached?
In the Learn Content item, open the Skills Overview tab.
Skills are grouped into Level 4 Skills and Level 5 Skills, with the number of items, questions, PDFs and videos linked to each.
A skill with no items is not being signalled by this content.
What happens when a learner uses the content?
Answering a tagged quiz question records a signal, which reflects whether the answer was correct.
Finishing a tagged video records a signal.
Opening a tagged PDF records a signal.
These signals appear in Skills Mapping > Dashboard under the Learn category, next to the Evaluation and Recognition signals for the same skill.
