Building Content: Adding Content Blocks

Learn how to add and manage the core content blocks of your Content item: intros, presentations (slides), downloadable PDFs, videos, and quizzes.

Once you have created a Content item in the Content Library, the next step is to build the actual experience. This is done by adding different types of content blocks, each serving a unique purpose.

You can manage all blocks from the Content Management tab on the Content item’s detail page.

What can I add to a Learn content page?

You can build a Learn content page by adding one or more blocks. Available blocks can include an Intro Content Block, Presentation, PDF, Video, Quiz, Tasks, Form, Discussion Board, Role Play, and embedded external content through the intro block or HTML-based content areas.

Several blocks are conditional and only appear when the matching feature is enabled on your tenant: Tasks requires the Task List feature, Form requires the Contribute feature, Discussion Board requires the Comments feature, and Role Play requires the role-play configuration. If a block is missing from your environment, ask the GFoundry team to enable it.

Each block serves a different purpose. Use the intro block for a rich introduction, video or PDF for supporting material, quiz for questions, tasks for checklists, and a form or role play when you need user input or practice.

Some blocks have extra settings. For example, video content can allow or block seeking, PDF content can require a read confirmation, and quiz content can include settings for how the quiz behaves.

How do I add an Intro Content Block?

This block works as the landing page for your Content item. It’s the first thing users see and is ideal for a summary, learning objectives, and a welcome message.

On the Content Management tab, find the Intro Content Block section.

Click Add Content.

A rich text editor will open, allowing you to write and format your text. You can add images, links, lists, and other styling.

Click Create to save the block.

How do I add Presentation Content (Slides)?

This block is ideal for slide-based lessons, lectures, or reports.

In the Presentation Content section, click Create a Presentation.

A window will appear offering three ways to create your presentation:

  • Create Slides Manually: Build your presentation slide by slide using the built-in editor.

  • Generate Slides from Images: Create an image-based presentation by uploading multiple images at once.

  • Convert PDF to Slides: Upload a PDF and automatically convert each page into an individual slide.

How do I add PDF Content?

Use this block to provide downloadable documents such as study guides, technical manuals, case studies, or reference materials.

Find the PDF Content section on the Content Management tab.

Click Upload a PDF.

Select the PDF file from your computer to add it to your Content item.

How do I add Video Content?

Video is a powerful format for tutorials, demonstrations, and interviews.

In the Video Content section, click View or Add Video.

On the video management page, add a video by:

  • Providing a link (for example, YouTube), or

  • Uploading your own video file.

Add a Title and Description for context.

    Save your changes.

How do I add Quizzes?

Quizzes help assess understanding and reinforce learning.

Because quizzes include multiple game modes and advanced settings, they are covered in dedicated articles.

See the articles under Creating and Managing Quiz Questions for full details.

Can I organize or reuse blocks after I add them?

Yes. You can edit, delete, or reorder blocks where that is supported. Some areas also let you move items into a different category, add them to a learning path, or connect them to a training program.

Curated content is also available in Learn categories. It is provided by GFoundry and can be moved into your own categories by editing the category field on the content item.

When should I use learning path or sequential completion?

Use a learning path when you want learners to move through connected content in a set order. Learners can use the arrows in the app to move between linked items.

Use sequential completion when you want learners to complete items in order. This setting is available in curricula and training programs. It is useful when later content should only be available after earlier items are completed.

By combining these blocks, you can create a varied learning experience that fits different learning styles.
