Creating and Managing Quiz Questions
Learn how to create quiz questions, add answers, and keep your question library organized. You can also import or export questions, publish them, and manage them in bulk.
What can I do with quiz questions?
The foundation of any good quiz is a strong set of questions. The GFoundry platform offers two flexible methods for creating and managing the questions in your quiz: adding them manually through the editor or uploading them in bulk with an Excel file.
This is all managed within the Quiz Questions tab of your quiz block.
Quiz questions are the building blocks of a quiz inside a Learn Content item. In the quiz block, you can create questions one by one, import them from an XLS file, export them, and update or delete existing questions.
You can also set the question difficulty level, add skill tags, and publish or unpublish questions as needed. The broader quiz behavior, such as game modes and quiz rules, is configured separately in the quiz settings.
How do I create a new quiz question?
This method is ideal for creating highly customized questions, adding rich media, or making small additions and edits to an existing quiz.
Navigate to the
Quiz Questionstab inside your quiz.Click the
Add Question +button to open the question editor.Write your question and define the answer options.
Question & Answer Formats
GFoundry allows for rich and engaging question formats:
Questions can contain: Plain text, images, sound clips, and even small animations using animated GIFs.
Answers are multiple-choice: You can provide 2, 3, or 4 text-based answer options. You must designate one of them as the correct answer.
Open the quiz block and go to the Quiz Questions area.
Use Add Question or Click here to add your first Question from the Questions List.
When you create a question, you can enter the question text, an explanation, one correct answer, and up to three wrong answers. You can also assign a skill tag, choose a difficulty level, and set the question status.
Question authoring can support richer content than plain text, including assets such as images, sound, or GIF-based media where those formats are enabled in your setup.
Can I import or export quiz questions?
This is the fastest and most efficient way to create a large quiz. It allows you to prepare all your questions and answers offline in a single spreadsheet.
Download the Template: First, download the official GFoundry sample file. Using the template is crucial to ensure the structure is correct for a successful import.
Populate the File: Open the file and fill it in with your questions, answer options, and an indicator for the correct answer for each row.
Save in the Correct Format: This is a critical step. You must save your completed file with the
.XLSextension (Excel 97-2003 Workbook). The more modern.XLSXformat will not work.Import the File:
Navigate back to the
Quiz Questionstab.Click the
Import quizbutton.Select your saved
.XLSfile to upload.
The system will then automatically create all the questions from your file, instantly populating your quiz.
Yes. The Questions List includes both Import Quiz and Export Quiz.
Import is useful when you want to add many questions at once from an XLS file. Export lets you download questions for review or reuse. When exporting, you need to choose a language.
If you import in bulk, use the expected XLS format for the official template rather than assuming newer spreadsheet formats will work the same way.
How do I keep questions organized?
Use the question status and difficulty level to keep your library manageable. You can also filter questions by team or skill tag when you use bulk edit, and you can update several questions at once.
If a question is no longer needed, you can delete it. If you want to keep it but hide it from learners, publish or unpublish it instead.
Whether you need to add a few highly visual questions or upload hundreds at once, these two methods give you the flexibility to build your quizzes efficiently.
