How to show group rankings in Competitions with Segregation Patterns
Use segregation patterns to automatically show each user a ranking for their department (or any other group family) inside an individual competition.
What are ranking segregation patterns?
A segregation pattern is the beginning of a group name. When a competition has a pattern, GFoundry finds each participant's group whose name starts with that pattern and shows a separate ranking for each of those groups.
For example, if your groups are named [Department] Sales, [Department] Marketing and [Department] Finance, add the pattern [Department] and each user will also see the ranking of their own department.
Patterns apply to individual competitions (competition types without Team competition).
How do I set it up?
Open the competition form (New Competition, or Edit on an existing competition) and look for the Segregation Patterns field. Enter one or more patterns separated by commas. If you don't see the field, contact GFoundry support to enable it for your company.
Create the groups if you haven't already, using names that start with the pattern.
Add the users to their groups.
Update the competition scores as you normally do, with Import participants (Excel file) or through the API. Group membership is read when the scores are imported, so add users to their groups before importing.
Users now see, in the competition, a ranking for their group (for example, their department).
