Designing a Role Play with the AI Designer

You do not configure a Role Play field by field. You describe the scenario to the Role-Play Coach Agent in a chat, and it builds the persona, stages, criteria and skills for you.

Note: If you do not see the Role Play block in the Content Management tab, contact GFoundry support. New to the feature? Start with Role Play: what it is and why it matters.

Open the designer

  1. Go to Learn > Learn Content and open the content item the role play should belong to.

  2. Select the Content Management tab, where all the content blocks are listed.

  3. In the Role Play row, click Create. The Role-Play Coach Agent window opens.

Context from the surrounding Learn Content is used to pre-fill the scenario, so the closer the content matches the conversation you want to train, the better the first draft.

Describe the scenario

  1. In the box "Describe the scenario you want learners to practice...", write the situation in plain language: who the learner is talking to, the context, and the behaviour you want to train.

  2. Click Send. Use Stop to interrupt a response. The agent may ask you questions in the chat; answer them to continue.

  3. When the agent has prepared a draft, the Test role play button becomes available.

  4. Refine the draft by replying in the chat, for example "make the customer angrier at the start" or "add a stage where they ask for a discount".

Tip: The designer shows the disclaimer "Role-Play Coach Agent can make mistakes. Review and test the role-play before publishing." Always run at least one test session first.

How skills are assigned

You do not pick skills from a list. The designer tags each evaluation criterion with the skills it exercises, from the scenario you described. The skills are shown in the role play details. See Reviewing Role Play sessions, evaluations and feedback.

To exercise different skills, change the scenario description so the agent produces a different design. Specific guidance on the situation, the audience and the desired behaviour gives sharper skill assignments. For how those skills become evidence, see How role-play sessions feed the skills engine.

Editing an existing role play

Open the Role Play row to reach the Role Play Details page and click Edit. The Role-Play Coach Agent recaps the current scenario and lists what you can change. Changes to the tone, persona or context apply right away. Changing the objectives or milestones regenerates the role play and invalidates existing sessions and evaluations, which cannot be undone; the agent asks you to confirm before doing so.

Next step

When the draft looks right, click Test role play to try it, then Publish. If you send more changes after a draft is ready, Publish becomes available again once the agent has prepared the updated draft. See Testing and publishing a Role Play.
