Finding Tasks and Empty Task List Warnings
Find tasks inside a task list and understand the messages you see when a list or search is empty.
How do I search tasks in a task list?
Open the task list and type in Search tasks... to filter the tasks by title. This is useful when a list contains many tasks.
If nothing matches, you see No results found for your search query. Clear the search to return to the full list.
On the Task Lists page, use the Search... field to find a list by name. Type at least 3 characters for the search to take effect.
How do I switch between all tasks and page view?
When a task list has more than one page of tasks, click Show All next to the pagination to display every task at once. The page then shows Showing all followed by the number of tasks. Click Show Pages to return to the paged view.
What do the task list visibility settings control?
Whether users see a task list, and which users, is set with Enabled and Content Segmentation in the task list window. See Task List Segmentation and Audience Targeting.
How do I know if an enabled list has no tasks?
On the Task Lists page, the Status column shows Enabled with a warning icon for an enabled list that has no tasks. Hover over it to read This Task List is currently visible to users, but it doesn't contain any tasks yet! The # Tasks column shows 0.
To avoid publishing an empty list, add the tasks first and only then turn Enabled on.
What happens when a task list has no tasks?
When you open a list without tasks, the Tasks panel shows No Tasks Found and Start by adding your first task. Click New Task to create the first task.
If the Task List Details panel shows No task list data available, the list could not be loaded. Reload the page and try again.
To create a new list instead, use Add Task List on the Task Lists page.
