Learn Content Notifications and Completion Rules for Skills Tracking
Use skill tags to connect Learn content to skills, choose whether video and PDF content can be completed early, and decide when learners should confirm completion. These settings help you control progress and reporting in Learn.
How do skill tags work in Learn content?
You can assign Skill Tags to video and PDF content. This connects the content to your skills taxonomy and helps you track related learning by skill.
Skill tags are only available when the feature is enabled in your company settings. If no tags are added, the content still works, but it will not be linked to any skills.
How do I control completion for video content?
In video content, you can choose whether learners are allowed to skip ahead. Turn Allow video seeking on if you want learners to move through the video freely. Turn it off if you want them to watch the full video before it is marked as complete.
Use this when you want completion to reflect real viewing, not just opening the video.
How do I control completion for PDF content?
For PDF content, you can enable Read Confirmation Needed. When this is on, learners must confirm that they have read the PDF before it can be completed.
This is useful when the document is part of a formal process and you need a clear acknowledgement from the learner.
Can I use these settings with skills reporting?
Yes. Skill tags are part of the Learn content setup, so the content can contribute to skills-related tracking and reporting. If you are using skills taxonomy, make sure the right tags are assigned before you publish the content.
If a video or PDF has no skill tags, it will still be available to learners, but it will not contribute to skill-based classification.
Where do I edit these settings?
Go to Modules > Learn > Learn Content, select the content item, and then edit the video or PDF section. Add or change the relevant options there before you publish or update the content.
If the content is already published, review the settings carefully before saving changes so the learner experience matches your completion rules.
