How to import goals and IDPs for competency development plans
Import goals and IDPs into an evaluation cycle or year cycle period from a file. After the import, review the created and updated items, and check any lines with errors before you reload the page.
How do I start an import?
Open the relevant area in Evaluations, either Cycle Goals, Cycle IDPs, Goals, or Individual Development Plans.
Select the cycle or period you want to update.
Click the import option for the item type you need, Import Goals or Import IDPs.
Choose your file.
The import uses an Excel file. Make sure the file contains the goals or IDPs you want to load before you start.
What should I check before I import?
Make sure you are working in the right cycle or period.
Use the correct import type for the data you are loading, goals or IDPs.
Review the file before uploading it, especially the item details and dates.
If you are updating existing items, include the information needed to match them correctly.
If the file is not ready, fix it before you import. The result modal shows whether the upload completed with or without errors.
How do I review the import result?
Open the import result window after the upload finishes.
Check Goals Created, Goals Updated, Goals Failed, or the equivalent IDP counts.
If there are errors, expand each line in Errors.
Review the Messages and Raw Data for the failed line.
Close the result window when you are done.
What do I do after a successful import?
Close the result window.
Reload the page if needed so the new goals or IDPs appear in the list.
Open a goal or IDP record if you need to confirm the details.
Imported items are available in the cycle or period you selected, so you can continue managing them from the same goals or IDPs views.
