Building a Course: Adding Content Blocks

Learn how to add and manage the core content blocks of your course: intros, presentations (slides), downloadable PDFs, and videos.

Updated over 2 weeks ago

Once you have created your course container ("Learn Content" item), the next step is to build the actual learning experience. This is done by adding different types of content blocks, each serving a unique purpose.

You can manage all these blocks from the Content Management tab on the course's detail page.

1. Adding an Intro Content Block

This block serves as the main description or landing page for your course. It's the first thing users see and is perfect for providing a summary, learning objectives, and a welcome message.

  1. On the Content Management tab, find the "Intro Content Block" section.

  2. Click the Add Content button.

  3. A rich text editor will open, allowing you to write and format your text. You can add images, links, lists, and other styling to create an engaging introduction.

  4. Click Create to save the block.

2. Adding Presentation Content (Slides)

This is the ideal block for creating traditional, slide-based lessons, lectures, or reports.

  1. In the "Presentation Content" section, click Create a Presentation.

  2. A window will appear offering you three ways to create your presentation:

    • Create Slides Manually: Build your presentation slide by slide using the built-in editor.

    • Generate Slides from Images: Quickly create a full-screen image presentation by uploading multiple image files at once.

    • Convert PDF to Slides: Upload a PDF document, and the system will automatically convert each page into an individual slide.

3. Adding PDF Content

Use this block to provide users with detailed, downloadable documents such as study guides, technical manuals, case studies, or reference materials.

  1. Find the "PDF Content" section on the Content Management tab.

  2. Click the Upload a PDF button.

  3. Select the PDF file from your computer to add it to your course.

4. Adding Video Content

Video is a powerful tool for delivering dynamic and visual content like tutorials, demonstrations, or expert interviews.

  1. In the "Video Content" section, click the View or Add Video button.

  2. On the video management page, you can add a video by providing a link (e.g., from YouTube) or by uploading your own video file.

  3. Add a Title and Description to give context to your video.

  4. Save your changes to add the video to your course structure.

5. Adding Quizzes

Quizzes are another powerful block you can add to your course to assess understanding and reinforce learning.

Due to their extensive features—including four game modes and detailed settings—we cover them in full detail in their own dedicated category. Please see the articles under the Creating and Managing Quiz Questions section to learn more.

By combining these different blocks, you can create a rich and varied learning experience that caters to different learning styles.
