Gamification Engine - Managing Badges and Setting Triggers

Create badges that reward user achievements, link each badge to a module trigger, set its points and coins, and review who earned it.

What is a Badge?

A badge is a virtual reward that can carry points and virtual coins. Each badge is linked to a trigger: an action in one of your modules (for example finishing a Learn Content or receiving a star badge). When a user performs that action the number of times you define, GFoundry awards the badge and its points and coins to the user.

You can also create silent badges. They are not shown to users; they are only used to progress on missions or to silently give points or coins.

How do I create a badge and set its trigger?

Go to Gamification Engine > Badges and click New Badge. Fill in:

  • Is silent?: silent badges do not appear to users. When it is on, the image, title, description and win text fields are hidden and not required. On self-service plans, this option is only available in the enterprise plan.

  • Badge Name: required. The name shown on backoffice lists.

  • Badge image: required unless the badge is silent. We recommend round images, 500x500 pixels, in transparent PNG or JPG. Click Upload Image to use your own file, or Gallery to choose one of the standard GFoundry images (see below).

  • Badge title: required unless the badge is silent. The title shown in the apps for users.

  • Badge Description: required unless the badge is silent. The text users see before they win the badge.

  • Badge Win Text: required unless the badge is silent. The text users see after they win the badge.

  • Module: required. The module whose action awards the badge. Only modules enabled for your company are listed. Each module has its own triggers (see the list below).

  • Trigger: required. The action that awards the badge.

  • Object field (for example Learn content): shown only for triggers about a specific item (a Learn Content, a star badge, a competition...). Choose that item.

  • #Occurrence: how many times the trigger action must happen to earn the badge. Required, minimum 1.

  • Points: points earned with the badge. Required.

  • Coins: coins earned with the badge. Required.

  • Max. Wins: how many times one user can earn the badge. Required, minimum 1.

  • Is enabled?: whether users can earn the badge.

When you change Module, the Trigger and object selections are cleared. When you change Trigger, the object selection is cleared. Review them together before saving.

Click Create to save the badge.
