OKRs - Module Overview (Objectives, Key Results & Initiatives)

The OKRs module helps teams and individuals set, follow and achieve objectives, with key results that measure progress and initiatives that describe the work.

What is this page about?

This page introduces the OKR module. It shows how each person's work connects to the organisation's goals, and progress updates (check-ins) help teams stay focused and adjust in time.

In the backoffice, the module is under OKRs, with Dashboard, Long Term Strategy, Objectives and OKRs Settings.

If your organisation uses Campaigns, this menu is called Goals and shows Dashboard, Campaigns and Transactions instead. This article describes the OKRs menu.

What are the main features?

  • Organisational objectives, objectives, key results and initiatives.

  • Timeframes and due dates.

  • Weekly check-in reminders.

  • Dashboards and exportable reports.

  • Import of objectives and results from Excel files.

  • Objective templates.

  • Achievement badges in the Gamification Engine.

Long Term Strategy

The Long Term Strategy page brings together your organisation's direction and its organisational objectives.

How do I define the Mission, Vision and Strategy?

At the top of Long Term Strategy there is an area for Mission, Vision and Strategy. Click Edit to define each one.

How do I create an Organizational Objective?

Click Add Organizational Objective. Assign the Objective Leader, write the Objective Title and the Additional context, and choose the Objective Timeframe.

Objectives

An Objective describes something you want to achieve in the future. It sets the direction, like a destination on a map. Objectives should not be technical and should not contain a metric, so that everyone understands where to go.

How do I create a new Objective?

  1. Open OKRs > Objectives.

  2. Click Add Objective.

  3. Fill in the Objective Leader, Objective Title, Additional context and Objective Timeframe. You can also choose a Parent Objective.

  4. Click Create Objective.

How do I create an objective from a template?

Click Add from template and choose a template from the list.

Then choose the Objective Leader, the Objective Timeframe and, if needed, a Parent Objective.

The next window lists the objectives created. You can preview them and edit them.

How do I view closed Objectives?

Above the list of objectives, filter by Active, Closed or All.

What is the difference between a Key Result and an Initiative?

A Key Result is a measurable outcome required to achieve the Objective. It has a metric with a start and a target value, and shows how close you are to the Objective.

Initiatives are the projects and tasks that help you achieve a Key Result. Think of your organisation as a car: the Objective is the destination, the Key Results show if you are heading in the right direction, and the Initiatives are what you do to get the car moving.

How do I create an Initiative?

In the result form, change the type from Key Result to Initiative. An Initiative must have a Key Result as its parent.

How do I update the values of Key Results and Initiatives?

Select the Key Result or Initiative and click Update Result. Enter the New value, choose a New status and, if you want, add a note.

What will my users see?

In the app, the My OKR's tab lists the objectives assigned to the user. Clicking an objective opens its detailed view.

From there, users can add Key Results or Initiatives under the parent objective.

When users select a Key Result or Initiative to update, a dedicated page opens where they can set a new progress value, choose a status (On track, Needs attention or Off track) and write a short note about the change.

An update to a Key Result changes the progress of its parent objective.
