Which report and percentage should an administrator use?
Choose the report that answers your question, then distinguish population, criterion weight, completion percentage, and result before comparing values.
Follow this troubleshooting flow
Define what you need to measure: configured population, process progress, content completion, evaluation result, or another outcome.
Confirm the module, cycle or program, period, and population that should be included.
Select the report designed for that question instead of choosing only by a similar title.
Read the column label and report description to identify what the percentage represents and which records form its denominator.
Apply the required filters and confirm the administrator's organisational visibility.
Check when the report data was generated, because some reports use periodic snapshots rather than live values.
Test one or two records and verify that their source status supports the total or percentage shown.
What do the common percentages mean?
Criterion weight: how much a goal, skill, question, or other criterion contributes to a calculation. It is not a completion percentage or the user's result.
Completion percentage: how much of the required process or content has been completed. Its denominator depends on the items and population included by that report.
Result: the score or outcome produced by an evaluation, assessment, quiz, or other configured calculation. It does not necessarily indicate process completion.
Population percentage: the proportion of included users who meet a particular status or condition. Confirm which users are included before interpreting it.
Which type of report should I choose?
Population: use the cycle, program, enrollment, or configured-user view that defines participation.
Progress: use a process or completion report and confirm which statuses count as started or completed.
Results: use the result or evaluation export for the specific cycle, assessment, or content.
One user's case: open the user's source record before relying on an aggregate percentage.
What should I avoid?
Do not compare a weight with a result, or a completion percentage with a score. Do not combine reports with different populations, filters, periods, definitions, or generation times. A mathematically different value is not necessarily a data error.
When should I contact Support?
Contact Support when the report purpose, metric definition, denominator, population, filters, visibility, and generation time are aligned but the value remains unexplained. Include the report name, column, cycle or program, filters, generation time, expected definition, displayed value, and one example record.
