How anonymous and single-submission forms work

Learn how to make a form anonymous or limit each user to one submission. These settings help you control how responses are collected and who can submit them.

How do I make a form anonymous?

When you enable Anonymous, responses to that form are collected without identifying the user. In the form details, you can also see that the responses are anonymous.

This setting is useful when you want honest feedback without linking answers to a specific person. It applies to the form itself, so all responses to that form follow the same rule.

What does single submission per user mean?

When you enable Single submission per user, each user can only submit one response to that form. This prevents the same person from sending multiple responses.

Use this when the form should capture one answer per user, such as a survey or an evaluation. If the user has already submitted, they cannot submit again.

Can I use anonymous forms and single submission together?

Yes. These settings control different parts of the submission process, so you can use both on the same form if needed.

An anonymous form hides the respondent identity, while single submission limits the number of responses per user.

Can I notify users when a form is submitted?

Yes. In the form settings, you can choose Notification Users to receive notifications when a form of that type is submitted.

This can be useful even when the form is anonymous, because the notification is about the submission, not about showing who answered it.

Can these settings be changed on forms created from Learn content?

Some forms are managed by the Learn Module. For those forms, some settings are controlled there and cannot be changed in Forms & Surveys.

If a form is linked to Learn content, the form details page shows that it is managed by Learn and may restrict changes such as deleting the form.
