What is this article for?

Use this article for the structural configuration layer of Evaluation & Performance.

This is not the cycle-launch article. After the career model is ready, move to the cycle and period articles for operational evaluation work.

What are careers used for in Evaluations?

Careers help you organize the job structure used in evaluation cycles. In a career, you can define job categories, skillsets, skills, and eligibility items.

These settings are used across evaluations to classify users, define what they should be assessed on, and filter who is included in a cycle.

What can I configure inside a career?

Go to Modules > Evaluation & Careers > Career settings and open Careers List to manage a career and its details.

Inside Career Details, you can add and edit:

  • Job Categories, where you can assign a category name and a functional level.

  • Skillsets, where you can group related skills.

  • Skills, where you can define the skill name, tags, and the skill scale for each job category.

  • Eligibility Items, where you can define extra items used in evaluation eligibility.

You can search within each list, add new items, edit existing ones, and delete items when they are no longer needed.

How do skills relate to job categories?

Skills are added inside a skillset, and each skill can be linked to job categories through the skill scale setup. This lets you control how a skill is assessed for different job categories.

If you use skill tags, you can also assign tags to help you organize skills more easily.

When a skillset has no skills yet, the skillset view prompts you to start by adding your first skill.

Can I use eligibility items in evaluations?

Yes. Eligibility items can be enabled in your evaluations setup and then used as a filter in cycle users. This helps you narrow down who should be included in a cycle.

You can also manage eligibility items from the career area, where you can create, update, search, and delete them like the other career settings.

If a career has no job categories or skillsets yet, you can add them from the career details page before using them in evaluations.
