Career, Job Categories, Skillsets, Skills, and Eligibility Items Administration
Set up the career structure used in evaluations: careers, job categories, skillsets, skills and, when available, eligibility items.
What is this article for?
Use this article for the structural configuration layer of Evaluation & Performance. It is not the cycle-launch article. After the career model is ready, move to the cycle articles for operational evaluation work.
What are careers used for in Evaluations?
Careers organise the job structure behind evaluation cycles. Each user in a cycle has a Career and a Job Category, and the skills they are evaluated on come from the skillsets of that career.
Where do I manage careers?
Go to Modules > Evaluation & Careers > Career Settings. This menu entry is shown to administrators.
In Careers List, use Add Career to create a career, or open an existing one.
The Career Details page shows the career name and the number of categories and skillsets, and lists each area below.
What can I configure inside a career?
Job Categories: each category has a Category Name, an optional description and a Functional Level.
Skillsets: groups of related skills, identified by a Skillset Name.
Skills: added inside a skillset with Add Skill. Each skill has a Skill Name, an optional description, the Job Category Skill Scales and, when available, Skill Tags.
Eligibility Items: shown only if eligibility items are enabled for your organisation. Each item has an Eligibility Item Name.
Each list has a search box, an Add button, and edit and delete actions on each row. Deleting cannot be undone.
How do skills relate to job categories?
In the skill form, Job Category Skill Scales lets you select the skill scale for each job category of the career. This controls how the same skill is rated for different categories. If the career has no job categories yet, the form shows No Job Categories found, please add some Job Categories first.
If you see the Skill Tags field, you can link the skill to skills from the Skills Catalogue. When an evaluation is finished, the scores of tagged skills are also sent to Skills Mapping.
What are eligibility items?
Eligibility items are extra items that are reviewed as part of a user's evaluation, separate from goals and skills. They do not decide who is included in a cycle. When a cycle has Has eligibility items? turned on, the Cycle Users page shows an Eligibility Items column and filter with the status Pending Review or Reviewed for each user.
If you do not see the Eligibility Items section in Career Details, eligibility items are not enabled for your organisation.
