While individual courses are the building blocks of training, a Mission is the blueprint for a complete development program. It is GFoundry's most powerful tool for creating comprehensive, long-term, and engaging training experiences.
A Mission transforms a simple training plan into a structured and gamified Learning Journey.
The Core Concept: A Gamified Path
At its heart, a Mission is a visual, structured path that guides an employee from a starting point to a final objective.
Imagine an onboarding program visualized as a map. As the new hire completes required tasks, they see their avatar move along the path, providing a clear sense of progress and accomplishment. This visual feedback is highly motivating and clearly communicates what's next.
The Structure of a Mission
Every Mission is built with two key components: Milestones and Goals.
1. Milestones: The Major Steps A Milestone is a significant stage or achievement in the journey. Think of them as the major checkpoints on the map. In an onboarding mission, for example, milestones could be "Week 1 Complete," "Company Culture Introduction," or "First Project Submitted."
2. Goals: The Individual Tasks A Goal is the specific action a user must complete to achieve a Milestone. Each Milestone can contain one or several Goals.
This is where the power of the GFoundry ecosystem comes into play. A Goal is not limited to the Learn module; it can be nearly any action on the platform.
Examples of Goals include:
Completing a specific "Learn Content" course.
Passing a Quiz.
Giving recognition to a colleague (using the Recognition module).
Submitting a form or survey (using the Forms module).
Completing a task assigned by a manager.
Why Use Missions?
Structure for Complex Programs: They are perfect for multi-stage programs like onboarding, leadership training, or sales certifications.
Increased Engagement: The visual path and sense of progression are highly motivating for users.
Holistic Development: They connect formal learning with practical, on-the-job actions, bridging the gap between knowledge and application.
Clear Communication: They provide a clear roadmap of what is expected from an employee over a period of time.
In essence, Missions allow you to orchestrate a complete employee experience, guiding them through a rich, interactive, and rewarding journey.
