Third-Party Automations: Make.com and Zapier
Connect GFoundry with other apps through the GFoundry app for Make.com or Zapier, using an API key from your backoffice.
What are third-party automations?
Third-party automation tools such as Make.com and Zapier connect apps and automate repetitive tasks between them. GFoundry provides a GFoundry app for each tool, so you can use GFoundry events as triggers and GFoundry actions as steps in your workflows, next to the other apps those tools support.
In the backoffice, go to Automations. The Third-party Automations panel shows Set Up Make.com Automation and Set Up Zapier Automation. The app logos shown below that panel are examples of apps that Make.com and Zapier can connect to; GFoundry does not offer direct integrations with them.
How do I integrate GFoundry with Make.com?
Make.com is a visual automation tool where you build scenarios that connect apps.
Make sure you have an active Make.com account.
In the backoffice, go to Automations and select Set Up Make.com Automation.
Select Install GFoundry App (on Make Platform) to add the GFoundry app to your Make.com account. The ABOUT tab lists the triggers and actions the app offers.
Open the CONFIGURATIONS tab and select New API Key. Use this key when Make.com asks you to connect to GFoundry.
In Make.com, create a scenario with the GFoundry app and the other apps you need, then test it and turn it on.
How do I integrate GFoundry with Zapier?
Zapier connects web apps through automations called Zaps.
Make sure you have an active Zapier account.
In the backoffice, go to Automations and select Set Up Zapier Automation.
Select Install GFoundry App (on Zapier Platform) to accept the invitation to the GFoundry app on Zapier.
Open the CONFIGURATIONS tab and select New API Key. Use this key when Zapier asks you to connect to GFoundry.
In Zapier, create a Zap with a trigger and an action, test it, and turn it on.
How do I manage API keys?
Each tool has its own list of API keys in the CONFIGURATIONS tab of its setup window. Create a key with New API Key and delete it from the list when a connection should no longer have access. Treat API keys like passwords and share them only with the people who build your workflows.
What can I build?
Some examples of workflows you can build with the GFoundry app and the apps supported by Make.com or Zapier:
Notifications: post a message in Slack or Microsoft Teams when a user wins a badge or finishes a mission.
Reporting: add a row to Google Sheets when a new user is created or a voucher is redeemed.
User organization: add a user to a GFoundry group or team when something happens in another system, such as your HR tool.
