Prepare your personalised GFoundry Mobile Apps

Updated over a week ago

When preparing to submit a custom app developed by GFoundry to the Apple Store and Google Play Store, certain key assets and information are required.

This guide outlines the essential requirements you need to provide to ensure a smooth submission process.

1. App Name and Category

  • App Name: Decide on a unique and descriptive name for your app. It should reflect the app's purpose and be easy to remember.

  • Category Selection: Choose the most relevant category for your app on each platform. This helps users find your app when browsing or searching in the store.

2. App Store Screenshots

  • Dimensions and Quality: Provide high-resolution screenshots of your app. Each store has specific size requirements:

    • Apple Store:

      • 6.7" Display (e.g., iPhone 15 Pro Max, iPhone 14 Pro Max):

        • Portrait: 1290 x 2796 pixels

      • 5.5" Display (e.g., iPhone 8 Plus, iPhone 7 Plus, iPhone SE 1, 2 and 3):

        • Portrait: 1242 x 2208 pixels

    • Google Play Store:

      • Number of Screenshots: Submit at least 2 and at most 8 screenshots.

      • File Format: Screenshots should be in JPEG or 24-bit PNG (no alpha) format.

      • Size Range: The size should range between 320 px to 3840 px, with the maximum dimension not being more than twice the minimum dimension.

  • Variety: Include screenshots that showcase the main features and functionalities of your app.

3. App Descriptions

  • Short Description: A concise summary of your app's purpose and key features. Limited to a specific character count (Apple Store: 30 characters, Google Play Store: 80 characters).

  • Long Description: A detailed overview of your app, its benefits, and functionalities. Highlight unique selling points and any critical information users should know (Apple Store: up to 4,000 characters, Google Play Store: up to 4,000 characters).

4. Additional Requirements

  • Icons and Logos: Provide app icons and logos in the sizes required by each platform.

    • Apple App Store Icon and Logo Requirements

      • App Icon Size: For iOS apps, the app icon size should be 1024x1024 pixels. This icon is used on the App Store and adjusts automatically for different iOS devices.

      • File Format: The icon should be in PNG format with no transparency.

      • Icon Corners: Apple automatically applies a mask that rounds the corners of your app icon. Therefore, do not include rounded corners in your design.

      • Additional Sizes: Depending on where the icon will be displayed (e.g., on the home screen, in notifications, in Settings), different sizes may be required. Apple provides a comprehensive list of these sizes in their Human Interface Guidelines.

Google Play Store Icon and Logo Requirements

      • High-Resolution Icon: Google requires a high-resolution icon with a size of 512x512 pixels.

      • File Format: The icon must be submitted in 32-bit PNG format.

      • Safe Area: Ensure that your design fits within a safe frame of 426x426 pixels. This is because Google Play dynamically handles the corners and drop shadows for the icon.

      • Adaptive Icons: For modern Android versions, consider providing an adaptive icon. These icons consist of two layers: a foreground image and a background image, each measuring 108x108 dp, with a safe zone of 66x66 dp.

  • Privacy Policy: If your app collects user data, a privacy policy is mandatory.

  • App Version Information: Details about the current version of your app, including version number and update descriptions.

  • Keywords: Relevant keywords for the app store's search algorithm.

  • Support and Contact Information: Provide a support email and contact information for user inquiries.

5. Optional Assets

  • Promotional Video: A short video highlighting the main features and user interface of the app.

  • App Localization: If your app will be available in multiple regions, consider providing translated versions of all the above assets.
