How should an administrator interpret the Talent Matrix, quadrants, and alerts?

Verify the performance and potential data, active cycle, configured alert criteria, update state, and organisational visibility before treating an unexpected result as an error.

Follow this troubleshooting flow

  1. Confirm the user, cycle or year, and Talent Matrix view being reviewed.

  2. Check that the user has the required performance and potential results for that cycle.

  3. Verify whether either result was reopened or changed after the matrix was last reviewed.

  4. Confirm the quadrant definitions and alert criteria configured for the organisation and cycle.

  5. Check whether the alert indicator is enabled for the selected cycle.

  6. Confirm that the administrator's profile and organisational branch allow access to the user.

  7. Refresh the view and compare the user's source results with the quadrant or alert shown.

What determines a user’s quadrant?

The Talent Matrix combines the performance and potential results available for the selected cycle. The labels, thresholds, and interpretation can vary by organisation. Use the organisation's configured matrix definitions rather than assuming a universal meaning for every quadrant.

Why can a quadrant appear out of date?

If a performance or potential assessment is reopened and changed, the matrix may need to reflect the updated source results. Confirm that both dimensions belong to the same cycle and that the latest submitted values are available before comparing the position.

What does the absence of an alert mean?

  • No alert: the user does not meet the configured alert criteria.

  • Alert indicator not configured: the cycle has no active rule to display that alert.

  • Missing data: one of the required performance or potential results is unavailable.

  • User not visible: the administrator's organisational scope does not include the user.

These situations are different and require different actions. Do not interpret a missing alert as proof that the user has no risk or issue.

When should I contact Support?

Contact Support when the source results, cycle, criteria, update state, and visibility are confirmed but the displayed quadrant or alert remains inconsistent. Include the user identifier, cycle, performance and potential values, expected quadrant or alert, configured criterion, recent reopenings, and administrator profile.
