Deleting Tasks and Task Lists
Learn how to delete a task, a task list, or a completed task record from the Tasks Module. Deletions are permanent, so make sure you remove the right item before confirming.
How do I delete a task?
Open the task list, find the task, and choose Delete from the task actions. Confirm the deletion to remove the task from the list.
After you delete it, the task is removed from the task list. There is no undo option.
How do I delete a task list?
Go to Modules > Tasks > Task Lists, open the list, and select Delete in the task list details. Confirm the deletion to remove the whole list.
Task lists can also be edited before deletion if you need to review the title, description, or visibility settings first.
What happens when I delete a completed task?
On Modules > Tasks > Dashboard, you can remove completed task records from the User Completed Tasks table. Use the row actions for the completed task and select Delete.
This removes the completed task record from the dashboard view. It does not delete the original task definition from the task list.
Can I delete a task list that is already visible to users?
Yes. You can delete a task list even if it is already visible to users. Make sure you want to remove the entire list before confirming, because the action is permanent.
If you only want to stop users from seeing it, edit the task list instead and disable it rather than deleting it.
What if I only want to remove one task from a list?
Delete the task itself, not the whole task list. This lets you keep the list and remove only the item you no longer need.
If the task list is already being used, deleting a task changes what users see in that list right away.
