How do I create an automation with targeting rules?

  1. Go to Automations.

  2. Select Add Automation.

  3. Choose a Trigger Type in Select Trigger Type.

  4. Enter an Automation Name.

  5. Complete the trigger-specific fields, such as Precondition, Action, or Delay (in days).

  6. Select the target users or groups for the automation, if the trigger includes targeting options.

  7. Turn on Enabled if you want the automation to run.

  8. Select Create.

How do I filter who is targeted by an automation?

  1. Open the automation details.

  2. Use the fields available for the selected trigger type, such as When assigned to any of the Group(s), When assigned to Team(s), or Delay (in days).

  3. For group-based triggers, select the groups that should trigger the automation in Select the groups that will trigger this automation.

  4. For team-based triggers, select the teams in Select the Teams that will trigger this automation.

  5. For onboarding automations, choose the Select Onboarding Form and set the delay after the user hire date.

  6. Select Update to save your changes.

How do I remove or add users to groups through an automation?

  1. Open the automation details.

  2. Use Add To Groups to add new users to selected groups.

  3. Use Groups to Remove to remove users from selected groups when the rule applies.

  4. If needed, set Assign To Career or Assign To Groups to route users to the right path.

  5. Select Update to save the automation.

How do I know which filters are available?

The available filters depend on the trigger type you choose. Some automations use group or team assignment, while others use onboarding timing or pipeline steps. After you create the automation, you can review the configured steps in Pipeline Steps and check Automation Details for the current rules.
